Brian P. McCloskey

Brian is a highly experienced intellectual property attorney with a broad range of expertise spanning patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. He advises operating companies on comprehensive IP strategy, including protection, risk assessment, and dispute resolution. Brian also provides targeted patent and other IP due diligence for investment firms, strategic acquirers, and secured lenders.

Brian served as Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Avon (part of Natura & Co.), where he managed a global trademark portfolio of over 17,000 assets and spearheaded global brand protection and enforcement strategies across 53 markets. He also held the role of Chief Patent Counsel, managing a diverse global patent portfolio and acting as primary R&D counsel.

Brian honed his skills at top-tier law firms, including Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Gunderson Dettmer, and Greenberg Traurig. At these firms, he represented a wide array of clients, from tech and life sciences giants to AI and SaaS startups, and venture capital and private equity investors. His practice encompassed managing complex patent litigation, negotiating and drafting critical IP agreements, and advising on IP issues in prominent mergers and acquisitions and credit transactions.

Brian's diverse background, including his significant in-house and start-up experience coupled with his foundational private practice experience as an IP litigator and IP deal specialist provides him with a unique perspective on the intersection of innovation, business, and intellectual property law.

Brian lives in New Rochelle, NY with his wife and three teenagers.  He is an avid competitive sailor and instrument-rated private pilot and glider pilot who also enjoys cooking and gardening.
